All are good to some extent. You need to spend some time and review your needs and how much you want to spend. Snap-on Modis is nice but rather expensive. The update are expensive also. Mac tools has the Mentor (old OTC Genysis) which does a good job also but cheaper. You need to evaluate what you want it to do. The best place to start is to call the tool weasels and get them in to give you the "dog & pony show". Most will loan you the scanner so you can check them out and see how you like them. Don't forget there are some new laptop based programs out there that are doing what the others are doing at a fraction of the price. A lot of the tool companies have shows but beware the high pressure sales guys! Take your time and check them all out. I went through this a while ago and settled for the Mentor. It does a good job at a decent price and you can get lots of add-ons (cables. scope, gas etc..). They all can make you a deal so drive a hard bargan and spend the time before you buy because of the costs involved. Good Luck!!
It is a tool used to read and display the information stored in an automotive computer. Sometimes you just need the Diagnostic trouble code and sometimes you need Live information as the car is running. The scan tool helps a mechanic to find out why a car isn't running right or why a "check engine" light is on.
requires a high end scan tool like the Tech2 Scan Tool used by service depts. The low cost DIY tools do not have this capability. See a Automotive Locksmith or a GM dealer
