I just got an Oreck XL Platinum. It is WONDERFUL on hard floors. I have a Siberian Husky that molts regularly. Using the low speed setting, the Oreck cleans up every last inch of hair and dust from my wood, tile and vinyl flooring (not to mention my carept!). Seriously, the floors are dust free when I'm done. It's pricey, but it's the best vac I have ever used. Feather light at 9lbs. My mom has the regular 8lb. Oreck XL--she claims it's just as good as my spendier version.
