in my opinion, the commando is my favourite assault rifle but i don't think its the best though and also the ak47u and the ak47 is also my favourite also i am not talking about Call of Duty black ops, another gun witch is quit good is the asp hand gun its really sexy but I'm probably wrong... lol

^^^ Do not under any circumstances listen to the guy above me.... He has absolutely no idea what he's talking about... There is no such thing as a "commando"... "Commando" was part of the name for the Car 15, It was an M16A1 with a shortened barrel, gas tube, different feed ramps and a different buffer weight in the stock. "commando" was to signify the short barrel length. You could say back in the day it was the term for "carbine". The "AK74u" also doesn't exist... The proper name is the AKS-74U. The Ak47 had its time, but the 7.62 is a far inferior round to the 5.56 and 5.45. Don't believe this guy, he's definitely got his answer from call of duty... The ASP being a perfect example.. Only a handful were made and it was never issued to any military... Also since this is an assault rifle post I don't know what a handgun is doing here...

The most accurate assault rifle in the world is the PSD. It is the standard issue weapon for American S.W.A.T. teams and fires a 6.8 mm round that has the accuracy of an M4 and the knockdown power of an AK-47. It fires at a rate of 950- 1000 rounds on full auto. It can be changed from full auto to burst fire or semi auto.

It really is down to personal preference. There are a wide selection of Assault Rifles satisfying what people normally feel comfortable with. These are the ones you can choose from (once you have unlocked them, the majority of them need to be unlocked by progessing through the game).

  1. M4A1
  2. FAMAS
  3. SCAR-H
  4. TAR-21
  5. FAL
  6. M16A4
  7. ACR
  8. F2000
  9. AK-47

If it is accuracy you want (for things like long range shooting, and using less ammunition hitting the opposition) then I do suggest using the ACR, probably the most accurate gun on the game, with the exception of the Sniper Rifles. Other extremely accurate guns are three round burst weapons like the M16 and the FAMAS, but these are disadvantaged against the ACR because it can not fire more than three shots at a time, but makes up as it is very powerful when combined with Stopping Power.

If you are after sheer power, I highly recommend using the FAL (the most powerful, or what feels to be the most powerful, gun in thr Assault Rifle category), or the AK-47. Either of these weapons can beat opponents with or without Stopping Power. However, the AK-47 has a disadvantage, its extreme recoil and inaccuracy means that it isn't good for long ranges shootouts.

The rest of the weapons in this category are generally good all round, they combine the basic elements of an Assualt Rifle. There is an exception to this though, I would refrain from using the F2000, because of its horrible recoil (worse than the AK-47) and it is also not very powerful. Being an experience Call of Duty player (particularly Modern Warfare 2), I can safely say the the M4A1 and the SCAR-H are my favourites. Hope this has helped.

In terms of what? Numbers produced? Service record? Advances in technology? Weapons such as the Magpul Masada (now being produced as the Remington/Bushmaster ACR) and CZ 805 are far more advanced than any rifle which has come before it, but neither one is combat proven yet. In terms of numbers produced and popularity, the Kalashnikov family of rifles would be in the top stop, unquestionably.

If you want just a personal opinion of mine as far as which military service rifles have had the most impact in the world since self-loading rifles began appearing, I would list the following:

  • Avtomat Kalashnikov AK-47 and variants (includes AKM, Type 56, M-70, AK74, etc.)
  • Fabrique Nationale FN FAL and variants (includes L1A1 rifle)
  • Heckler & Koch G3
  • Colt M16 and variants (includes C7, C8, M4, CAR-15, etc)
  • Sturmgewehr 44/MP43/etc (the first true assault rifle)
  • Israeli Military Industries Galil and variants (includes Galil AR, Galil ARM, Galatz, etc)
  • M-1 Garand

The last three I would think of are all bolt action rifles (Mauser, Lee-Enfield, Mosin-Nagant), and wouldn't fit in here. As for the rifles listed, an assault rifle by definition is a select fire weapon, firing an intermediate cartridge, and intended for engagements of 300 metres or less. Therefore, the FN-FAL, G3, Garand, and 7.61x51 variants of the Galil would technically not qualify, as they are considered "battle rifles", rather than assault rifles.

There are several rifles worthy of mention, naturally, but most of them either never made their mark, or have yet to do so. For instance..

  • Steyr AUG: Among the first bullpup designs to see widespread service use, and also innovative in being one of the first rifle designs to make use of lightweight polymers.
  • FAMAS: Another rifle which is among the first bullpup designs to see widespread service use. Like the AUG, the FAMAS really didn't bring any new innovations, but rather was a combination of previous ideas which happened to work out.
  • Vz. 58: Standard Czech service rifle for over 50 years. However, although some would consider it a superior design to the AK, it never really had a chance to gain the reputation of the AK, since the Soviet Union "persuaded" most Iron Curtain states to licence manufacture the AK, rather than produce their own designs.
  • Armalite AR-18: After Stoner got frustrated and sold the rights of the AR-15 to Colt, he set about designing a new rifle, intended to be a low cost alternative to the AR-15/M16. The AR-18 was a commercial failure - Swaziland was the only military customer who made it standard issue, and the rifle became more notorious in the hands of the IRA terrorists than in any military force - but the action of the AR-18 served as the basis for rifles including the Royal Ordinance L85/SA80 (a design in which the action was weakened for some unknown reason), Chartered Industries of Singapore SR-80 and SR-88 (the SR-80 was designed by Sterling Armaments of England - who held the manufacturing rights to the AR-18 at the time - for the Singaporeans), Taiwanese Type 65 rifle, and Heckler & Koch G36 and HK416 rifles.
  • Type 81 rifle: The rifle which replaced the Type 56 (licence manufactured AK) in Chinese service, it combined several ideas from both the AK and western designs, to create a service rifle which some are inclined to believe to be superior to the AK. However, it saw only limited exports, and never saw the sort of widespread use the AK did.
  • Type 65, Type 86, and Type 91 rifle: With rifles such as the HK-416 being produced for the military market, and gas piston AR systems such as the Ruger SR-556 being produced for the civil market, the gas piston AR system is hailed as being a new and innovative thing. However, it is not - the Taiwanese have been making them ever since 1974, by applying the operating mechanism of the AR-18 to an AR-15 platform (which is exactly what the HK-416 and SR-556 do). However, it's another rifle which never saw much export use, and, as if by some twisted act of fate, most countries which it was exported to ended up disbanding their armed forces (El Salvador, Haiti, Panama).

Then, of course, you have a whole new series of rifles coming out which seem to bring a lot to the table, but haven't yet been put through the test to the extent weapons such as the AK, G3, FAL, etc. have.

Depending on what type of AR you like, if you like accuracy, ACR. If you like damage, M164A. If you like 3 round burst, FAMAS or M164A. Just depends.

That totally depends on personal preference. Mine is the SCAR-H, since it excels in everything except magazine size. However, I do fine with all AR's, even the FN F-2000.

What is the most effective assault rifle?

"Kalashnikov AK-47 AKM Assault Rifle" Is the most effective assault rifle yet invented, of course, there are many versions of this rifle, but it is powerful, cheap, deadly, and pretty much accurate on an assault-range. ^^^ Wrong.... wrong on so many levels. The AK47 and AKM are two different rifles. The AKM is an improved version. And its main weakness is that it fires that terrible 7.62 round... The AK74 is a completely superior gun. More accurate, better ballistics with the 5.45 round, less recoil, lighter etc.

Do you need a license to buy an assault rifle?

You will need to define assault rifle, and where you live. A TRUE assault rifle is a machine gun, and transfers of them are tightly regulated by the Federal government. What most people CALL an assault rifle is nothing but a semi-automatic rifle, and in most of the US, does not require a license to possess.

What was the first assault rifle?

The first ever assault rifle is the MP-44 aor sturmgewer 44. In Nazi germany, they wanted a weapon that is automatic, but at the same time, as accurate as the rifle. The MP-44 was the father of the AK-47, because it is based on the MP-44.

Is the assault rifle better on halo reach or Halo 3?

In halo reach there is some small moderations. The Rifle is slighty more accurate and has a new visual upgrade. But the assault rifle in Halo 3 is much better becuase it has more ammo (the rifle in reach only has 32 and the rifle in halo 3 has 60) and is the original version.

Do M82 rifle shoot far?

Is an Assault Rifle a machine gun?

They both are capable of automatic fire but a machine gun is a "crew-served" weapon while an assault rifle can be used by a single soldier. It generally uses a cartridge smaller than a machine gun and a rifle but larger than a sub-machine gun cartridge, which is a pistol cartridge. In Nazi Germany, they wanted a weapon that was fully automatic, but at the same time, as accurate as the rifle. So they came up with the MP-44 or sturmgewehr 44. The first EVER assault rifle. that's a fact. The AK-47 is probably the most widely known example of a modern assault rifle.
