Epiphones are made by Gibson as a beginner guitar, but are more expensive than the Squires. Squires cost within $100 - $200, and Epiphones have a wider range, from around $300 - $1500. You could also find a used guitar for much cheaper that has better quality. Just check the prices and availability as well as playing the guitar before you buy to get a feel for it.
