What I do is flush the system; 'cause if your rad has corrosion, so does the rest of the cooling system. Purchase a PRESTONE flush kit at a auto store along with a container of flush and at least a gallon of antifreeze. There are detailed directions on the package. Briefly, you will be installing a flush tee in the return hose to the heater core, adding a can of flush to the rad,running the car at idle and then attaching your garden hose to do the work. Very effective.

I went to the car wash, removed the intake and out put hoses to the engine. I then used the high pressure wash to send water thruogh the rad first through the intake and then the output of the rad until the water ran clear. reconnect the hoses and you are done.The drain plug is on the lower left side of the rad when you face the front of the car. Its a simple hand twist plug.

It would be good to flush the system at the same time. Drain the rad. from the lower hose, keep it open. Open one of the heater hoses at the fire wall, insert your garden hose and just let it flow. This will flush the heater core and the block. Next do the same with the rad. You can flush it from the top rad hose, it will clean the rad. If the system is very dirty then use a rad. flush product from your local auto parts. Follow directions. Now, when finished tighten all the hoses except the heater hose. Just leave it on loose. Fill the system with the recommended fluid ( 50/50 ) is best. Start the engine and continue to fill the rad. When it gets full, all this with the heater inside the car on full heat, let the engine reach operating temp. You can open the heater hose slightly to let some air out. Some coolant will come out also. That's ok. Then close it back up, top up rad. and do the same over again till all the air is out. Check the heat inside, if good, tighten heater hose, top off rad. and check the coolant to see how the mixture is as for colder climates. Around -35 f is good. That's it. Good to go.

You flush the radiator but it keeps getting hot what could it be?
have you changed the thermostat. If you have flused the rad. and it still gets hot I would say more than likely it is the therm. Make sure the outside of the rad. or fins are washed out to. good luck.

The drain plug is a rubber threaded stopper . It is on the bottom passenger side of the rad above the bottom hose. It sits flush with the rad so it is hard to see. A large slote srewdiver will open it.
