I worked for a church as Administrative Assistant for some time and I ended up leaving because of the "uneasiness" that was often felt in our office. The Pastor would often say " I feel a different energy coming from you today, is everything OK"? Sometimes I would give an honest answer sometimes I wouldn't. I was struggling with the way things were interpreted and allotted. For instance: where the church its self tithed. May be something totally unrelated to work or may be God's working with this person in a way that doesn't feel good to them . Good luck!
The church employee in question is a good place to start.
It depends on what church the cleryyman belongs. Some are paid and others are full time volunteers.
No a parsonage cannot be owned by the church and the pastor. If the church as an organization owns something it cannot be co owned by an individual. The pastor is an employee of the church not a co-owner of the church/organization.
$400.00 or more for non-church income and $108.28 for church employee income.
I assume that the staff member is a church employee. Then it depends on the terms of their contract or employment agreement with the church. If the document states that the employee is on at "at will " basis, then they may be fired for any reason or for no reason at all. The situation may be different with regard to the ordained clergy employed by the church, as typically their terms of agreement are different and may be subject to denomination restrictions, etc.
A catholica priest is. His ultimate boss is the pope and the Vatican in Rome.
According to the IRS, you need to declare your tax as a self-employed person when 1. Your net earnings from self-employment (excluding church employee income ) were $400 or more. 2. You had church employee income of $108.28 or more.

Yes church musicians should have a contract as with any other official agreement. The church musician provides a service and can be seen as an independent contractor or employee of the church. With that there should be an agreement that outlines expectations and responsibilities so there are no misunderstandings about when and where the musicians services are needed.
A disqualified person includes the Pastor, or any other paid employee of the church.
Different people affected the Church at different times. Possibly most consistently in the West it was the Pope, and in the East it was the Patriarch of Constantinople. Other people who had profound influence included Kings of Franc and Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. If there was a single person outside the Church of the Middle Ages who had the greatest effect on the Church, it might have been the Islamic prophet Muhammad, but people might disagree.
It depends upon the conditions of your work. If you worked as an unpaid volunteer, then your cannot receive unemployment benefits on that basis. If you were a paid employee, then you can.
