- Unless the nickname is unbecoming to the person in question then nicknames are a sign of affection by others and many people have nicknames. It will be hard to educate people in your life to call you by a name you wish them to call you by, but just keep telling them that you do not like the nickname and to call you by the name you choose and be patient until they get it right.
