The ancients found numerology as answering some of the mysteries of life, and to the Hebrews the number 7 had profound meaning. It is not without cause that scholars credit the Hebrews with the development of the seven-day week. No doubt the special meaning of this number arose because one phase of the moon takes seven days.

The number 7 or its multiples occur through The Bible, but perhaps the most important instances are in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, where the number seven is used to prove that Jesus was predestined for greatness.

Both gospels provide a genealogy with a pattern of sevens to show the superstitious ancients that Jesus was predestined for greatness. Neither of them is fully consistent with the Old Testament account, but Matthew demonstrated that there were 14 generations: from Abraham to David; from David to Josiah; from Josiah to Jesus. To do this, he had to (among other things) ignore 3 kings in the Old Testament. Luke had great men occur in multiples of 7 generations starting from Adam, with: Enoch at 7; Abraham at 21; David at 35; Jesus at 77. He also had: Joseph at 42 and 70; Jesus (Jose) at 49. To do this, he had to insert his own fictitious people into the Old Testament list: Kainan at 13; Admin at 28.

What does the number 29 represent in the Bible?

A:Devout Christians have sought to find biblical meaning in just about every possible number, but there is limited agreement on what is clearly post-biblical speculation. For a number to have real meaning in the Bible, the original authors must have had that meaning in mind at the time of writing. While several numbers do have obvious significance in the Bible, especially the numbers 7, 17 and 40 (and other multiples of 20), there was no particular meaning given to other numbers.Lacking any clear meaning, some suggest that meaning can be found for the number 29 as the combination of 20, which they call the number of expectation, and 9, the number of judgement. Another suggestion is to give 29 the meaning 'departure'.
