The biggest tornado to strike Montreal, QC, Canada is a waterspout that formed just off the island of Montreal in July of 2008. The city was under alert for some severe thunderstorms due to a strong approaching cold front, some able to spawn isolated tornadoes. Watrespouts are unnormal for this region. They normally form in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and just off the Australian coastline. In fact, such a weather occurrence has never occurred as far north as Lake Ontario until this one.
