What is the biological significance of light energy?

Light energy gives us warmth and helps us in the preparation of our daily meals.
Light energy also helps in the process of photosynthesis of plants, yet plants sustains our lives as well. Without light energy, there are no plants, and without plants MAYBE there will be no life.
