It's an emergency "wallet" key. Basically, BMW made it really small and lightweight, so if you lose your original keys (or lock them inside your car) you can still open it if you've stashed the "wallet" key in your purse or wallet. f.y.i. only use it in a EMERGENCY. i used it when i run marathons and it cracked in the igintion and i cound not start the car. BE CAREFULL
I need to know how to get the rim off my 323I 1999 drop top BMW. I was told there is some kind of key to use but where would the key be?
Normally there is a button or key swith on the dash, if it isn't there or shows you how in the car manual I would say you can't turn it off
BMW keys use what is called an EWS chip. These chips are built into every key, even spares and plastic wallet keys. They can only be obtained from BMW. Each car can only have 10 keys. If all 10 are lost, the entire ignition system must be replaced for a new chip set.
take it off the ring, slide off the black plastic cover on your key
A new key for a BMW can be obtained by contacting your local BMW dealer. They will contact the factory in Germany that will make you a new key for your BMW.
it depend where you go to get it done, where you live, and if the key has a micro chip in it or not. when you look at your key right below the base if there is a little black piece of plastic then there is no way to get the key copied (the piece of plastic is a micro chip)
small, with black plastic finger grip on it,
According to my owner's manual you must contact a BMW dealer to replace the key.
i got a second hand BMW x5 key how can i set to my car?
The hole in the black plastic head sometimes. If it has a transponder the hole is offset to one side and thick plastic. Non transponder usually has a thinner black head with hole in center top of key.
with a key??
By driving with the key fob in the ignition.
