latches remember the last state but buffers do not
Latches in Microprocessor are used for demultiplexing address/data bus.
for demultiplexing address/data bus
By using buffer along with micro-controller, it is possible to reduce the effect of 'back EMF' or 'Spiking Effect'. The capacity of any micro-controller is to sink or source current up to 25mA and its ports gets damaged if it is more. So buffer protects ports of micro-controller getting damaged. And it is possible to get appropriate data trans-receiving by using buffer in micro-controller.Sachin Joshi

A latch is a type of flip-flop circuit that is used to store digital information in a microprocessor or other digital system. A latch is essentially a digital memory element that can hold a single bit of information (i.e. a "1" or "0"). Latches can be used to store data that needs to be held temporarily, such as the current state of a program, or to create a temporary buffer for data that is being moved between different parts of a system.
In 8086 pipeline concept was introduced bcoz in 8086 we started using a buffer space which fetches the instruction at the same time when CPU processes
How does a microprocessor decode?
flip-flop latches is 2. SR and JK latch
The plural of microprocessor is microprocessors.
Microprocessor is a single chip processor.
Digital electronics involves logic 0 and logic 1. It involves the devices and circuits such as gates, flip-flops, latches etc. The basic idea of Digital electronics is mandatory for microprocessor & microcontroller and also for computer architecture. So, any application which involves microprocessor or a computer have digital electronics in it. It can be security applications, error correcting & error detecting , power saving circuits etc.
