Drive South on the 101 from Halifax to Digby. Get on the Ferry to New Brunswick (check out the princess of Acadia website for schedule) and drive south to the main border.
We only have 1 city, well one recognized city. Halifax. However the town of Digby is actually the closest to Maine in travel time. From Digby Nova Scotia you can take the ferry (boat) to St. John New Brunswick and then drive to the US border and into Maine.
The last time our family made this particular crossing was in 2002, and at that time the duration of the trip was approx. 4 hours.
