What is the cause and fix for a Saturn 2001 SL2 that squeaks like rubber on a smooth floor when the steering turns?

Check ball joints & tie rod ends. The original ones that came with the car are not serviceable (greaseable) and sometimes they start to seize and give a screeching noise on turns. Also check the Power Steering fluid level to make sure its o/k but don't overfill it. You might want to have a look at the belt running the power steering, it may be loose or worn causing noises.
