But not in the modern sense of the word 'patriarchal' which tends to suggest sexism or male domination. The Church is not sexist because both men and women have the same opportunities for salvation. Men and women are regarded as being equal in salvation, but not having the same roles. For example, it is the role of men to become clergy, but it is the role of women to bear children. Men cannot have children, but this does not mean that God has discriminated against men. Men simply have to accept this as God's Will and choose to serve God in other ways.
