I've just started having this problem too on my 2002 Malibu. I have found a lot of intermitted turn signal issues, especially for the 2000-01 Malibu, but I am still searching for info on the clicking (turn signal) sound from the dash.

google "multifunction switch" -- basically, it's a buildup of grease in the housing of your turn signal stalk which activates the circuit and makes that clicking sound even when the signal is off. The fix-it solution is to open the housing and clean the grease off the contacts.
the clicking sound is the blinker. when you signal to turn with your blinker the light flashes and makes a clicking sound.
It is your turn signal relay located behind the glove compartment. I have replaced mine and still had the same clicking/buzzing sound. It's most like your turn signal arm because it has a cluster of wires in there and they can't get loose.

IF your blinkers are clicking extremely loudly then try changing the relay. The relay is what is responsible for the light bulb going off and on and is were the sound of the clicking is coming from. A relay is just a mechanical electrical switch that flicks the power on and off to make the blinker blink

my 2000 Chevy Van's left turn signal is clicking erratically. What should I do? Check your indicator light bulbs as one may be out. There could be an earthing problem if not the bulb.
