Russia, followed by Norway. The northernmost point of Europe is Cape Fligely, Russia (European portion). However, if you exclude Russia then the northernmost point is Rossøya, Norway (which is a part of the Svalbard Islands, a Norwegian territory).
The mediterranean climate is subtropical. Eastern Europe has a so-called land climate: hot in summer, cold in winter. Northern Europe has a so-called subarctic climate, in the west tempered by the influence of the (warm) Gulf stream.
