It could possibly that your tie rods need to be replaced, that is a very common thing with clunking noises at the time of braking. Recommend a free alignment check (call around and see who offers them), They will tell you if they need to be replaced. It is usually a pretty easy fix, though the car will need to be aligned afterwards. So if you're a do-it-yourselfer like me, drive straight to the shop afterwards. Otherwise you can really mess you your tires if you wait too long
