The Band-winged Meadowhawk is the common name of Sympetrum semicinctum.

Specifically, the insect is native to southern Canada and the northern United States of America. This particular dragonfly favors shallow, weedy ponds for mating, egg-laying and egg-hatching into nymphs. The female blends with the environment's general yellow-green vegetation whereas the male is obvious in bright orange, orange-red colors.
