Conversion Chart for Scott's Easy Green Spreader.
the same
There is a conversion matrix on Earthway's site to get the conversion from a Scott's spreader to an Earthway spreader. It is easiest to add 10. For example, Scott's spreader set at 4 should be set at 14 for an Earthway spreader set.
There is no direct conversion based on weight per area, because it fully depends upon the size of the granules.
This is pretty simple, but not well documented. The Scott's standard broadcast spreader setting is based on the number of pounds per 1000 square feet. For the product below, the application rate is 11.5 lbs/5000 square feet. If you reduce this, it becomes 2.3 lbs/1000 square feet... so the setting should be 2.3 --------------- http://www.scotts.com/smg/products/ortho/outdoor_bug_killers/fire_ants/pdf/08%20FAK%20bag%20cropped.pdf The same: 2.5! See new label pd above. Took me forever to find this. --------------- This conversion only works on Scott's or similar products that have a uniform prill size. If products have a variable prill size and weight this conversion will not work out correctly.

I use rock salt to melt ice and use my brocast spreader to scatter it on my driveway. I have also used the spreader to apply other ice melting products as well with no problem.
You would want to use a spreader setting of 3.5. Go over the entire lawn 1 time.
