That is what the argument is about - what is correct. There is no agreement. and any policy that is adopted is certainly not going to make every citizen happy. There are just too many citizens with too many disparate opinions. The best that can be hoped for is probably to make most citizens not very unhappy.

I personally find Sam Harris' podcast "The Riddle of the Gun" to be advocating the most sensible gun control policy. However, I can guarantee that it will make millions (if not tens of millions) of Americans completely mad. There is no gun policy that everyone will support.
