yes it is different than a 351 windsor but there are two different ones that it could be: 15426378 or 15263748
A 1979 Chevrolet pickup does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain. The chain will last the life of the engine and is normally replaced during an engine overhaul.
one is on the cam gear and the other is on the crank timing belt gear. spark timing is on the crank to the rear of the engine
12 degrees - Manual Transmission
I've heard from a long time mechanic that at the altitude I live at, almost 7500 feet, that one should run 4 degrees advance. Seems to work really well. According to my Chilton's book on 1979 360 engines, Dodge, the timing is 4 degrees BTDC.
If you look stright down between the water pump and engine block you will see the timing mark.
It is 6 degrees before top dead center.
some one put the wrong balancer on the crank. or put it on inside out...
