All tires will have writing on them with the recommended tire pressure for that tire on it. <-- That is a commonly held fallacy. The markings on the side of the tire show the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM pressure that the tire is designed for. As for the correct pressure for a 1997 Altima, I happen to know that it's 29 PSI for the fronts and the rears. Don't take my word for it, though; the manufacturer's recommended pressure should be printed on a sticker that you'll find on the driver's side door or door jamb. ----------------------------------
The correct pressure is 29 PSI. Its on a label underneath the center console lid.
