Very correct and traditional grammar requires that we use the Past Tense in the second sentence, and NOT the Present, but I believe the Americans tend to ignore this rule (so I would say ..."Tia Fraylon WAS..."). The rest of the sentence is OK.It is perfectly correct as it stands. We would say "was" only if the person in question had died.
