I just purchased a used 2006 and did research on this ... the list price is a little under $5000 but you can get them for $1500 from auto wreckers.
Another consideration is that the hybrid system and batteries are covered under an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty in addition to the normal 36 month, 36,000 mile warranty.
