It depends on body style(regular cab, extended, crew), 2 or 4wd, SRW(single rear wheel) or Dually, short/long bed and most important gas or diesel( diesel is 1,000lbs heavier). The heaviest a 4 door dually/ long bed 4x4 diesel has a curb weight of 8,220lbs. The lightest model for comparison, (regular cab, 2wd, srw, gasoline) weighs 5,808lbs.
From 1986 to 2000 I was a Sales Manager at a couple of Chrysler dealers and did all the new vehicle ordering. The answer is no, you couldn't order a short box 4x4 extended cab from Chrysler although you could get a 4x2 extended cab.

My 1999 ram 2500 quad cab short bed with a 1/4 tank of gas weighs about 6200 lbs. My 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L diesel according to the VIN report is 5,501 lbs. The GVW is 8800 lbs. so I can theoretically haul 3300 lbs. or 1.5 tons including passengers, fuel etc. Said weight is with Snowplow, towing packages and 5 3/4" factory lift kit.
