is studded with tiny black boddies known as ribosomes and has the function of manufacturing cell proteins and acting as a temporary storage area sometimes sugars are added to the proteins to make glycoprotein in secretions such as mucus

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is a folded membrane that has Ribosomes (protein producers) 'stuck' to it. They make protein which is pushed through the Rough ER and the protein exits the cell. It is called the Rough ER because under a microscope, the ribosomes make it look 'rough', as compared to the Smooth ER, which has no ribosomes.
