The Seventh day is the Sabbath... it is even in The Bible where it says about the part where Jesus died on the cross - which is on Friday "Good Friday". Rested the next day which is Saturday "Sabbath. Rose the next day Sunday "Easter Sunday"

You can even look on the calender for Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday...

look in the Bible for John chapter 19 and chapter 20 and read it.

Answer:

That would all depend upon the branch of Christian you asked. The majority of Chrisitans are part of the 'mainstream' which observes Sunday as the weekly 'Lord's Day.' However, the more fundamental or evangelical branches observe the biblical sunset Friday to sunset Saturday as the Sabbath observed by Jesus and the Apostles.

As an aside, no where in the Scripture does it state that Jesus died on 'Good Friday' or any Friday for that matter. Most scholars would agree that Jesus died on the daylight portion of Passover which that evening begain the Holy Week of the Feast of Unleavened Bread - where the first and last days of said week are Holy days or Annual Sabbaths. A close read of the Gospel accounts will reflect 2 Sabbaths immediately following His being entombed - the Annual and the weekly Sabbaths. He had to be in the tomb for a full 72 hours or 3 days and 3 nights as the only sign He gave of His Messiahship. NO matter how one counts days - full or partial - the best you can add up from 3 PM Friday to early Sunday morning (it was still dark) is 2 or 2 1/2 days.

The Sabbath is a day in which Jews believe god rested after creating the world. G-d worked really hard for six days (we aren't sure if days or increments of time) then on the seventh day he rested. The sabbath or shabbat can mean many different things to different Jews. Those who are orthodox or more historically correct to Judaism don't do things that involve electricity such as drive a car, cook, or even turn on the lights. To other Jews those it can just mean a day to rest and be happy with family. BYE BYE

The Sabbath is a day of rest that is given to God, where a Christian will take a step back from the business of their lives and focus on what God has done for them. The majority of Christians observe Sundays as their Sabbath, because this is the day that Jesus rose from the dead, and it is also believed that this was true with the earliest Christians (i.e. the Apostles) also, but it really doesn't matter which day a Christian calls their Sabbath.

After God renewed the face of the Earth and had created man in His image, He set aside a day to rest and reflect upon His great Creation. This is the 6th day or Saturday - more specifically as nights came first in Genesis Creation week, it is sunset Friday (start of new day) to sunset Saturday (end of said day). It is a divine sign between mankind and God - it is His Sabbath (Exodus 31:13, etals), made long before any Jew or Sabbath keeping Christian were about:

Exodus 31:17New American Standard Bible (NASB)

17 It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed."

Biblically, the Sabbath is Saturday. The Roman Catholic Church in the Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364 changed the day of worship to Sunday. Saying that keeping Saturday was β€œjudaizing”. Most, but not all, Christians have chosen to follow this decree.

Why is the Sabbath day now on Sunday not Saturday?

For Jews, this is not true. Shabbat starts Friday at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown as specified in the Torah. For Christians, it is not called the sabbath day. For them, it was always on Sunday. Another contributor added these comments: The Sabbath was observed by both Jew and Christian when the Christians came on the scene. Not until pagan worship was inter mixed with the Christian beliefs was the idea of Sunday worship introduced. that was fortified by Constantine. God never intended there to be Sunday worship, he instructed us to remember the seventh day as the Sabbath of the living God. Belief that the Sabbath is on Sunday hasn't even been in existence for 2000 years yet! The Sabbath is still on the seventh day, Saturday, and God expects us to keep it!
