Whether it is hubristic to think of life as epic depends upon the particular situation. First of all, in the way of definitions, hubris refers to excessive pride and self-confidence. Epics refer to the telling of the deeds of legendary heroes by way of an elevated, poetic style. According to the definitions, it isn't hubristic to think of life in general as epic. But according to the Greek defined hubis and epic, it indeed is hubristic to think of one's own life as epic. In so doing, one exaggerates one's role in one's small part of the universe. For in the Greek epics, one mustn't forget the universal power of the gods over their mortal playthings.
