Another answer from our community:
Since Matthew is writing for a Jewish audience, this Gospel has a slant which reflects this. He points to a number of Old Testament prophecies to show Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. The conflict between Jesus as the authoritative teacher with God's point of view, interpreting His own law, versus the perversions of the teachers of Jesus' day is also to the forefront. Matthew 23 is a whole chapter of stinging rebukes for such teachers who should have known better.
There are too many differences to describe in a short answer, so I will restrict my answer to the birth and crucifixion of Jesus. Of the four Gospels of the New Testament, only Matthew and Luke have a story of the birth of Jesus. These can be compared:
All the resurrection accounts differ. In Matthew, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary saw the angel who caused the earthquake sitting on the stone. The original Mark's Gospel did not mention any appearances of the resurrected Jesus, and this is absent from our earliest manuscripts. However, an ending was added later to Mark's Gospel to harmonise it as far as possible with those of Matthew and Luke.
mathew does not show christs childhood.
There are four books in the New Testament known as "the gospels". They are the Gospel according to Matthew, the Gospel according to Mark, the Gospel according to Luke and the Gospel according to John. In Roman Catholic tradition, they are considered the heart of the Bible, because they tell us about the birth, life, mission, death and resurrection of Jesus. In Catholic liturgy, use may sometimes made of a book that contains only the four gospels and not the rest of the bible or even the rest of the New Testament. This book would be called a Book of Gospels.
Jesus said 'come' many times in the gospels; but perhaps the most memorable time he said it was to his poor labouring sheep, in Matthew 11.28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden , and I will give you rest .

All four of the Gospels document it. Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19. It's also referred to in the rest of the New Testament, and predicted in the Old Testament, but those four chapters contain the historical documentation of it.
