if 8 is pre-cs2 which im 99% sure , blending options has been introduced which makes brushes and stuff a million times better and a few keyboard shortcut and interface differences. That's the photoshop I recommend to others.
or cs3, never liked CS4 and 5 im too lazy to get the trial.
