Well this is a very simple question to answer. A planet orbits the sun, it is also made up of rock, stone, sand, ice and many other things. A planet normally has a moon orbiting it and Earth is the only planet known to have life on it. Although back in 2007 there was something spotted on one of the mars rovers it looked like a man but some say it looks like the legendary Big Foot. A Satellite orbits a planet. It takes photos of the planet and can also have people inside operating it. A satellite is normally no bigger than 3 or 4 coaches put together. Also a satellite is made up of metal.

A planet is a huge object that goes around a star - they're usually round. A satellite is anything that goes around anything else. That means that a planet is a star's satellite and a moon is a planet's satellite. Humans also make artificial satellites.

Do all planets and satellites lie on the same gravitational layer?

Why are the planets considered satellites?

Planets are not satellites. The definition of satellite is any celestial body orbiting around a planet or star.

How are planets different from satellites?

simple! planets are huge or normally bigger than satellites in terms of mass, area and size. planets normally have a atmosphere like the earth. planets revolve around the sun whereas satellites revolve around the planet. both of them are non luminous object which means they reflect the light from the sun. satellites are usually fragments of a planet when it was forming.

What is the difference between a rocket and a satellites?

A satellite orbits the earth and observes it. A rocket is designed to go to different planets, either taking people with it, or taking a space prob to take pictures of that planet.
