Seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic. It is used for the management if manic symptoms in bipolar patients and is also used in schizophrenia. Lamictal is an antiepileptic, that has an off label use as a mood stabilizer in Bipolar disorder. Seroquel XL is the long acting form of the drug that has an enteric coating to help the drug be released slowly throughout a 24 hour period. There are immediate release tablets available also.
