What is the difference between a 2008 subaru outback mpi engine and a subaru outback sfi engine?

I am not familiar with these terms. In 2008 three engines were available in the Outback. EJ253 is single overhead cam 2.5, EJ255 is double overhead cam turbo 2.5, and EZ30D is double overhead cam 3.0 six cylinder. According to Subaru no other engines were available.
