If you're just trying to tell the difference, the 5's have an "S" shaped door opening while the 7's have a "u" shaped opening.
The other difference is that if you're in a 5 and you pass a 7, you get to wave first. :)
The main two differences is the CJ5 has a 83" Wheelbase and the CJ7 has a 93" Wheelbase. The door openings are different. The CJ5 has a S shaped opening and the CJ7 has a U shaped opening. The bottom line is the CJ5 is just smaller. Other than those 2 things they are basically the same vehicle. Of course there are other differences in appearance and trim.
No. The door openings are not shaped the same, CJ-7 vs CJ-5.
The cj5 is shorter so it wont line up right
Yes. Everything from the doors ---> forward was the same in the CJ5, CJ6, CJ7 and CJ8. The CJ7 is 2" longer than the CJ5 to allow for the optional automatic transmission, so the frame and body were 2" longer. The CJ6 and CJ8 were 10" longer in the back.
Serpentine Belt 4.2L - 87.2" - 6 Rib - 1981-1986 - Jeep CJ5, CJ7, CJ8, & SJ
no... 75' and older are interchangeable... as are '76 and newer. FYI... cj5 and cj7 cannot swap at all.
Jeep made the CJ7 from 1976 to 1986.
Yes
yes. jeep stanardized bell housing bolt pattern in 71 i believe. just motor mounts and exhaust and radiator to worry about.
The CJ7 was 10" longer than the CJ5. Most of the additional length was in the rear portion of the vehicle, so even if you wanted to modify a CJ7 top to fit it would mean taking out and replacing the windows and shortening the top. Way more work than it's worth.Keep looking for a CJ5 top, or go with an aftermarket top instead.
between 86 and 87. jeep stopped making the cj7's in 86
Cj8 is hotter than cj7
