The cj5 is shorter so it wont line up right
no,the 7 body is longer including the frame
Yes. Everything from the doors ---> forward was the same in the CJ5, CJ6, CJ7 and CJ8. The CJ7 is 2" longer than the CJ5 to allow for the optional automatic transmission, so the frame and body were 2" longer. The CJ6 and CJ8 were 10" longer in the back.
CJ7 rear wheel wells do not directly fit a CJ5 due to differences in the body design and dimensions of the two Jeep models. The CJ5 has a shorter wheelbase and a different rear body structure compared to the CJ7. Modifications may be necessary to make them compatible, but it’s generally recommended to use parts designed specifically for the CJ5 for the best fit and finish.
no... 75' and older are interchangeable... as are '76 and newer. FYI... cj5 and cj7 cannot swap at all.
The main two differences is the CJ5 has a 83" Wheelbase and the CJ7 has a 93" Wheelbase. The door openings are different. The CJ5 has a S shaped opening and the CJ7 has a U shaped opening. The bottom line is the CJ5 is just smaller. Other than those 2 things they are basically the same vehicle. Of course there are other differences in appearance and trim.
A CJ7 front floor panel will not directly fit a 1979 CJ5 due to differences in dimensions and design between the two models. While both are part of the Jeep CJ series, the CJ7 is slightly longer and has different body contours. Modifications may be possible, but it would require custom work to ensure a proper fit. For the best results, it's recommended to use parts specifically designed for the CJ5.
The CJ7 was 10" longer than the CJ5. Most of the additional length was in the rear portion of the vehicle, so even if you wanted to modify a CJ7 top to fit it would mean taking out and replacing the windows and shortening the top. Way more work than it's worth.Keep looking for a CJ5 top, or go with an aftermarket top instead.
it has a flufy head look at the cut of the doors. cj5 has like a s-hape to it and the cj7 has a u-cut....i hope you can understand what i mean. -first_slice
No. The door openings are not shaped the same, CJ-7 vs CJ-5.
Yes, you can install a steering column from a 1986 CJ7 into a 1978 CJ5, but some modifications may be required. The mounting brackets and wiring harness differences between the two models may necessitate adjustments or custom fabrication. Additionally, ensure that the steering linkage and compatibility with the steering gear are considered to ensure proper function. Always verify compatibility with your specific vehicle setup before proceeding.
