The most major difference in the series 2 is the addition of the 'barrel roll' sides, new engines and some other changes to the body. A lot of changes to the Land Rover series 1s and 2s happened during production and not between models.

no they are different. It will fit the same, however a series 3 land rover has syncromesh on all gears whereas a series 2a only has syncromesh on 3rd and 4th.
