If the term you intended to type is "long-term goal", then the difference is the length of time that effort will be directed toward the goal and when you expect the goal to be achieved. short term goal: shorter period of time long term goal: longer period of time (presumably a more complex or more challenging goal in some way, or you could achieve it in less time)
Short and long term goals should be related to each other.

Here are some examples:

SHORT: I'm going to take a 6-week class in conversational Spanish.

LONG: Next summer, I'm going on a vacation to Spain.

SHORT: I will write a strong resume.

LONG: I will apply for jobs this summer.

SHORT: I will get As in chemistry and Biology in HS.

LONG: I plan to go to Nursing School after HS.

SHORT: I will learn HTML coding.

LONG: I will make my first website using HTML coding.

The answer is really simple: Short-term goals are ones that you will achieve in the near future and Long-term goals are ones that you will achieve over a longer period of time. Long-term goals often are our most meaningful and important goals. Usually short term goals call tactical goals and the long-term goals - strategic goals. Both of them should be closely tied to an organization's mission and vision statement.

Yes, and the main difference is the time frame in which you are working towards achieving the goal. A short term goal is one you are working to achieve within 12 months, while a long term goal is one you are working to achieve more than 5 years from the present.
