Physician-assisted suicide refers to the physician providing the means for death, most often with a prescription. The patient, not the physician, will ultimately administer the lethal medication. The Netherlands support full-fledged euthanasia, meaning the doctor can end the life of (kill) the patient. Switzerland does not punish euthanasia or assisted suicide. The states of Oregon, Washington, and Montana have legalized assisted suicide.
