The cost is the only difference is price. You do need to have a student ID (the vendor will ask you for proof; ie: a photocopy or scan) to purchase an edicational version.

From what I have seen (I have been a subtitute teacher in the Municipal Schools in Northwestern NM) the difference is pretty distinct. Teacher's editions have lesson plan suggestions, question answers, usefull hints on how best to interest students, suggestions for further reading.
