The vortec has bigger pistons
there is no difference. "5.7" and "350" both refer to the same motor. 5.7 is the litre measurement, 350 is how many cubic inches it displaces.
Try a search for vortec engines
The Vortec is the GM 4.3L VIN Code "W" engine, the X is the non-Vortec
NO.
No, but if the 96 has the 5.7 Vortec engine then it will have different heads which give it more power. ETA Question: Can I put the '96 vortec heads and intake on the '93 engine? You will need a vortec specific manifold. Edelbrock makes one
pre-1988 Chevy 350 5.7 (in trucks) were carbed (with the exception of diesels) so that is the first thing to look for. after 1996 the 350 engines are vortec- until 1999, when they went to a 327 5.3 litre engine. (with the excption of the W/T) but still vortec's. and of course, the plastic throttle body cover that says...Vortec
If you mean the Vortec 8100, it uses ordinary unleaded regular.
there is quite a difference in power, fuel milage towing power passing power etc. Do you tow anything? i have the 5.3 and my dad has the 4.8. we have almost the same fuel milage, i get a little better but mine is chipped. towing power is not even comparable. hope this helped.
A 2000 Chevy 4.8 liter vortec engine usually takes 6 quarts. It truly depends on the vortec engine, usually the standard is between 5-6 quarts to fill the engine.
Between 195 and 210 degrees.
Look at the intake manifold. A vortec engine has 8ea. All the others have 12ea.
