To summerize it, one is black and the other one is red. Who would have guessed? *I tried some quick research on the two beans: Kidney beans are somewhat larger in shape than black beans (often called black turtle beans for their oval shape). Both were described as hearty beans that worked well with spices. Kidney beans work well with chilli and black beans work well with Asian cuisine. But on the nutritional scale I didnt find any real difference.

Roman beans and pinto beans are types of kidney beans. Roman beans are also called borlotti beans. They have a creamy texture and mildly sweet taste. They are interchangeable with pinto beans in recipes where quite frankly I can't tell the difference in taste and texture.
