A solution is a mixture of 2 or more substances that is blended so well that it has one set one properties. Also, it is hard to separate the 2 substances from each other. (eg. water has 2 particles, but looks like 1)
A mechanical mixture is a mixture of 2 or more substances and all the ingredients are visible to the naked eye. Also, it is easy to separate. (eg. Chocolate Chip Cookies have many different types of particles, but you can see all the ingredients and are easy to separate the Chocolate Chips from the cookie.)
