How do you moisten dry chocolate chip cookies after baking them?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

"Moist" in baked goods isn't related to water. It's related to fat. If you use a hard fat, such as butter or lard, you end up with a crispier cookie. If you use a liquid oil, you end up with a softer cookie. If you use an oil that's been hydrogenated, partially or fully, you end up with trans fats which make your cookies more dangerous than cigarettes. In the 1980s, they started selling "soft" cookies in grocery stores. These used corn syrup instead of sugar. They also tasted pretty lousy. Butter is 80% fat, 20% water, and when you're baking, the water evaporates. Not a very good result. Lard works better. The best pie crusts are made from lard, too. Be sure not to overbake the cookies. And make sure you have plenty of ice-cold milk.

Do you need to add flour to chocolate chip cookies if you used stick margarine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Butter does not have to be used as the shortening for cookies/biscuits, but has the advantage of being a form of shortening that melts at body temperature, and therefore gives a luxurious mouth-feel or melt-in-the-mouth texture to the final cookie or biscuit.

Butter also has a flavour that complements sweet foods.

How long do you cook chocolate chip cookies for at 375?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

With a few exceptions, cookies usually bake for about 9 to 12 minutes no matter what temperature they are baked at. However, baking is a science. The ingredients in the dough, the desired texture of the final product, and the chemistry involved in the process all determine at what temperature and for how long the cookie should bake. To answer your question more specifically, it would be necessary to know which cookie recipe or type of cookie you are referring to.

How does McDonald's prepare their chocolate chip cookies?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The cookies are prepped for final baking at a commercial processing facility, then frozen before cooking and shipped to the individual stores. At the store, the frozen cookie dough is removed from the shipping container, placed on a tray and then put into the cookie oven to cook.

Someone who actually worked there: that dude has no idea what hes talking about ^^ mcdonalds cookies are prebaked and frozen. they come already made then they are stuck into a 400~ degree oven for 2 minutes to heat them back up. theres no cookie dough lmfao next time you go to mcdonalds if its hot out ask them to give you frozen cookies they are awesome frozen.

What temperature do you bake chocolate chip cookies?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It really depends on what sort of cookies you are baking. For instance, sugar cookies would bake at an average temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 Celsius), but thick brownies may bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 Celsius). Or, you may want your cookies to bake slowly, and put them in at 325 Fahrenheit (160 Celsius) for a longer period of time. The most common temperature that I have seen for all sorts of baking and roasting is 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 Celsius). It is considered a "moderate" temperature and is used for the majority of things I have cooked. That goes for cookies, too. == Most of my cookies bake at a temperature of 375 Fahrenheit (190 Celsius).

Here's a better recipe that I know of actually for work. Preheat the oven to 350°F, then get your ingredients together:

  • 1 cup of butter flavored shortening
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of white sugar
  • 2 eggs, 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 cups of milk chocolate chips
The next thing you need to do is grease about to cookie sheets (recipe makes 24 cookies). In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, the brown sugar and the white sugar until light and fluffy. Then you need to add the eggs one @ a time beating well with each addition. Then add the vanilla extract. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, gradually stirring into the mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared cookies sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes. Voilà! You have cookies!

What year did Ruth wakefield invent chocolate chip cookies?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In 1930, Wakefield was mixing a batch of cookies for her roadside inn guests when she discovered that she was out of baker's chocolate. She substituted broken pieces of Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate, expecting it to melt and absorb into the dough to create chocolate cookies. That didn't happen, but the surprising result helped to make Ruth Wakefield one of the 20th century's most famous women inventors. When she removed the pan from the oven, Wakefield realized that she had accidentally invented "chocolate chip cookies."

Eat the dough raw!! LOL (only if the eggs are pasteurized). Heat + chocolate = melting. Use actual chocolate chips instead of chunks of chocolate. They will melt, but firm up as the cookie cools.
