there are not many similaritys between crt tvs and flat screen tvs the closed to a crt tv to flat screen technology is plasma tvs plasma tvs work in a similar way by having an electron hit a phosphorous screen which excites and produces light crt tvs work in a similar way

the gold is not as good for CRT
CRT and plasma TVs emit x-rays, which can be hazardous.
Every TV is different. From just a coupe watts for the smallest battery powered LCD to hundreds for large CRT or plasma sets.

Prior to flat screen TVs the technology was CRT (cathode ray tube)
Few of the technologies used in Computer Monitors are CRT, LCD, LED, OLED & PLASMA.
Obviously, the main difference between a plasma and LCD monitor is that plasma screens use plasma gas to generate an image and LCD's use liquid crystals. Plasma screens have a much longer response rate which will leave "screen burn" or a persisting image after the image is gone. LCD's have a much quicker response time that is best for fast paced games. Both monitors use the same imput and are capable of high definition images. LCD's usually have higher contrast ratios which yields much sharper images although their maximum size is less than that of a plasma monitor.
This product is only designed to hold Plasma TV models and not the older style CRT type TV's.
Assuming you mean the monitor, several technologies have been used in the past, and are used nowadays. That is, there are different types of monitors, such as CRT (cathode-ray tubes), plasma screens, LED screens, etc. They each use different methods to create the light.
