neutral is having to the electricity it have more number of electrons is there.............for ex...our home haveing less no of electrons come from electicity it not enough for using electrical application.....so some spark...some time it touch electrical equipment shock there so home inbuilt ground having some electrons taking ground so its safe for our elecrical equipment......any doubt mahmoothmth@gmail.com

What is meant by neutral grounding reactor?

Neutral-earthing reactors or Neutral grounding reactors are connected between the neutral of a power system and earth to limit the line-to-earth current to a desired value under system earth fault conditions.

When you test the outlet you get no current between power and neutral but you get it between power and ground?

There is an open circuit on neutral. You should have power between hot and neutral, as well as between hot and ground. Note well, however, that you should not pull any power between hot and ground, because ground is not intended to be a current carrying conductor - it is only there as a protective earth ground in the case of fault. You can not easily tell, at the outlet, if neutral and ground is reversed - you need to pull a load and then double check with a clamp on ammeter at the distribution panel.

Can you use the earth wire between room stat and honeywell board as a neutral?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!The protective earth ground wire is only there to provide a low resistance path to ground in the event of a short circuit so as to trip the protective device. Operational current is never, under any circumstances allowed to be passed on earth ground. Use neutral for neutral and ground for ground.CONSULT A QUALIFIED AND LICENSED ELECTRICIAN !!!!

Can you glow led by using neutral and earth?

If you connected neutral and earth (ground) to each lead in an LED and it glowed then this would be evidence of a ground fault.

Could anybody help the reading between earth and neutral in the incomer supplying power to the house is 120V while live and neutral reads normal 220V and live-earth reads up to 298V.?

It sounds like either you have a bad ground connection or that ground and neutral are NOT bonded at the main panel only. There is either a strap or screw in main panel that connects ground and neutral. Also check the connection to a ground rod and that the ground rod is intact.

What is neutral to ground fault?

Neutral, by definition, is grounded at the distribution panel, and also at the distribution pole. That is how the hot to ground voltages are prevented from exceeding their normal voltage and encroaching on truly lethal voltages, such as 7.6kV in a typical US 13.2kV system, in a wye configuration.Note: and this is critical, do not depend on the fact that neutral is grounded and consider that it is the same as protective earth ground. It is not. Protective earth ground is a different wire.

Why dont you use earth wire place of neutral?

Earth is neutral, but only at the distribution panel and upstream from it. Downstream of the distribution panel, earth and neutral shall not interchange or cross connect their connections or their roles - earth is protective ground - and neutral the current carrying return conductor.

Does a toaster use a neutral phase?

There is no such thing as a 'neutral phase'. 'Live' or 'hot' conductors are called 'lines', whereas the neutralconductor is at approximately earth (ground) potential. So, a toaster would be connected between a line and a neutral conductor.

Why is the function of neutral wire?

The neutral wire is simply a grounded power carrying conductor. It is different than earth ground, which is a protective ground, that is not intended to carry current, however, earth ground and neutral are connected together at the distribution panel. Nevertheless, they serve different purposes, and may not be interchanged in usage. The purpose in grounding one of the power carrying conductors is to limit the possible voltage potential that might exist between an ungrounded conductor, such as hot, or phase hot, so as to minimize the potential electrocution hazard that might exist if someone were to come into conduct with a hot conductor.

What is different netural and ground or earth?

The neutral wire carries current back to the source in a circuit, while the ground or earth wire is used as a safety measure to protect against electric shock. The neutral wire is a current-carrying conductor under normal operation, whereas the ground wire carries no current except during fault conditions.

Why neatural ground resistor using in 33kv transformer?

The function of a neutral earth resistor is to limit any fault current resulting from fault between a line conductor and earth.

What is a restricted earth neutral system?

appropriate resistance is to be inserted between the neutral point of the transformer and the earthing mat to restricted earth fault current. for this purpose a sensitive earth leakage relay is used. in the event of a fault, fault current returning to the system neutral trips an earth leakage relay and disconnects the supply. anand r. ambekar
