....the south is primarilly agricultural wheras the north is more industrious. Car manufacturers, design studios and the fashion industry are all located in northern Italy. The dining experience is a bit different though, southern cooking is spicier with red marinara sauce whereas the northerners utilize butter and cream sauce for their pastas.....i.e, fettucine alfredo. The people from the south have darker skin (olive) and hair in contrast to the people from the north who are more fair skinned and light-haired. Virtually all of the Immigration to the USA has been from the southern provinces.
