The full name of the country is: 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' which is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Great Britain on its own is England, Scotland and Wales. What was originally called the British Commonwealth has been renamed the Commonwealth of Nations and is comprised of about 50 (now independent) countries which were once part of the British Empire.
