Is possession of stolen property a felony in louisians?

Personally I am unfamiliar with the LA statute but in many
(most?) jurisdictions whether it is classified as a felony or a
misdemeanor depends on the dollar amount of the property in
question. (e.g.: possession of a stolen tricycle would be a
misdemeanor, but possession of a stolen truck would be a
felony)

What is misdemeanor larceny?

Larceny is theft/stealing, the taking of anothers property with
the intent to permanently deprive them of the property. Whether
it's a misdemeanor or a felony depends on what the dollar amounts
are in your particular state. On average $1000.00 or more in value
of the item(s) taken makes the larceny a felony. Below that amount
is either a petty misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor.
ADDED: In addition to dollar limitation on the amount
which differentiates a misdemeanor and a felony - - there is the
jail time specified in the statute. Any jail time of NOT MORE THAN
one year is a misdemeanor.
