Roughly 265 miles, and you really should be using Google Maps to answer these questions. Just go there and type in "Los Angeles to Las Vegas" (if you're using more obscure cities, you may want to add the state also, but in general it's pretty good about guessing that you probably meant Manhattan, NY and not Manhattan, KS) and it will not only give you the road distance, it'll tell you what particular route it chose and may also list alternative routes if there are multiple options that are about equally good.
